..........a solution, perhaps?

It was trying to get the tights fetishers to admit that if they couldn't wear their beloved tights, they'd have no place in ballet!!!! Think before you respond!!!!>The hypothesis, especially its assumption, is not valid.  The tights fetishers know full well that there is NO alternative to dancewear for ballet, so they, inherently, would not give an honest reply.  In fact, my belief is that if you even hypothesize that there is an alternative to current dancewear for ballet, knowing that the nature of ballet requires functionality and the ability of the teacher to see the muscles in action, the tights fetishers will instinctively be intrigued by this alternative to current dancewear and change their erotic focus to that.>In truth, a fetish is a psychiatric disorder.  Unless the underlying stresses that cause this outlet are addressed, the fetisher will unlikely change.  If you eliminate the object of the fetish, it is highly likely that the fetisher will adopt another focus, most probably one that is similar to the previous.  Silk stockings were popular, then we had nylon, and now we have lycra...that change probably never stopped a fetisher!>I think we agree that people should not dance just because of a fetish for dancewear.  However, I believe that being in dance is a better alternative than having some fetisher standing outside a dance school offering me twenty bucks for my sweat-drenched tights!

I believe that an answer to this, and what Mr. Ballet is driving at is:

There are, unfortunately, many people who post here who are NOT ballet dancers at all, but, rather, simply men who love wearing tights and leotards and who are drawn here to this board because of it.  AND that they post messages to such extent.

Now, to perhaps contradict myself and to be honest here as well:  It was because of the NECESSITY of wearing tights (you're correct on this one Ballet Boy!)and the fear I had of such....after all, it is still regarded as quite a feminine bit of clothing!...that I stayed out of studying ballet for most of my early youth.  Horrible!  But, for the love of the dance, I eventually overcame my fear of the garment and began classes in Manhattan, NYC.

Frankly, I still feel it is quite a "feminine" garment to wear.  But, no matter what my feelings are about tights and even wearing a leotard, when I dance or rehearse, the garments become nothing but the ONLY fully functional uniform to wear.

I don't know, I'm kind of tired at this time.  I hope my post is both understood and stops the quarrelling here.

Martin.
