Sorry Death-Spiral, it doesn't seem that many people have replied to your query.  I would guess there aren't many figure skaters here.

I used to have this boyfriend I met in ballet class who was a figure skater. He was taking ballet to help improve his ice-dancing.

I recently met a Russian figure skater who has a rink in Chicago.  He is an Olympic GOLD medal winner.  He was referring his students to a Russian ballet teacher there.

I would have to bet that ballet really helps in figure skating.  The mutual development of the muscles for strength and flexibility, and the balance and stability learned, all these would have to be a great combination.

I watch and enjoy figure skating.  How would I compare ballet to figure skating?  I don't know, except the balletboys have better looking butts than the figure skaters! ;o)
