I agree with almost everything you've said, but don't agree with the suggestion that the leotard should be worn over the tights.

In ballet, the females wear the leotard over the tights.  This is to extend the lookj of their legs.  With the male ballet danseur, the strenght of the upper body is more important...The "V" of the masculine body is more important, so male ballet danseurs wear the tights over the leotard.

This is simple.  The male danseur is appreciated for his torso, not the length of his legs.
