(Mancer, my dear, you seem a bit uptight about this subject.)I can understand how the sterotype would bother some people, but honestly, there are millions of sterotypes that bother everyone. Are all male dancers gay?Are all females wasteful with money? Why not ask if all eccentric dressing teens are suicidal? As far as ballet vs Hip Hop, Ballet has been around longer and stresses gracefullness (And a lot of the time, a storyline)Hip Hop centers around movement and is faster paced.Does that make one more "masculine" or "feminine"?Is cooking on the grill more "masculine" or "feminine"?

You know, in many cultures (the one I'm thinking of more specifically was a native american tribe somewhere on North American) it doesn't matter what you pysical are - you are able to pick your gender at a certain age. Men could do women's jobs, and sometimes were quite honoured, just as women did men's jobs, and also were sometimes quite honoured. Most of the time, the women stayed with women, and the men with men, yet it wasn't uncommon, or unacceptable, for the opposite gender to choose against their own. (They weren't all gay either.)
